I find the concepts of “good” and “bad” to be so interesting. We place so much importance on these terms that are completely subjective and, in truth, don’t really mean anything. Very few things in life can be so easily classified, and I think it’s interesting how desperately we try to make everything fit into one of them. Just a little rambling for your Monday morning enjoyment 😄.

You asked for it, and so the Coven delivered: presenting the #bookishcoven April Photo Challenge! We mixed it up this month with prompts of all types, and we hope all of you witchy bookstagrammers love it! The response to March’s challenge was so overwhelmingly positive, and I can’t tell you how much it means to all of us. Not to mention, you guys totally killed it with the pictures! Picking some to shout out every week has been crazy difficult! You all are seriously so wonderful, and you make this black little goth heart so very warm and fuzzy 🖤🖤🖤.

Hello, bookworms! Ok, confession time: taking sock pictures is hard, and I am not very good at it. This picture took forever and I fell over several times trying to take it (my 7 year old thought it was hilarious). I don’t know how you ladies do it, but I tip my hat to you.

I’ve never been a fan of the Wizard of Oz, but I love Wicked. I think Dorthy and the “good guys” just annoyed me too much. I mean, all the lady wants is her damn shoes back that you took off her dead sisters body...doesn’t seem like such a crazy request. You all know I always love a witch, so getting her background and learning her motivations is right up my alley.

Let us rejoice, bookworms, for it is finally Saturday! Last night was a much needed moment of relaxation full of laughing, good food, and girl time. I’m exhausted today, but it’s totally worth it.

As soon as I read the synopsis for The Women’s War I knew I had to get it. I’m a feminist, and I believe reproductive control is of the utmost importance for all women (and a way that the patriarchy controls women), so his book sounds like an absolute perfect fit for me. I mean, come on, anything described as “#metoo and #resistance through the lens of epic fantasy” has got to be amazing.

Hello, darling bookworms! I am beyond excited to be going to the live show of my favorite podcast, My Favorite Murder, with my bestie tonight! I was able to go the last time they were here too, but I was 38 weeks pregnant at the time, so I think I’ll have more fun this time 😆. Any murderinos going to be there tonight?!

I had the most difficult time figuring out what to do for today’s prompt. I thought about so many witches, but none of them fit. It was then that I had an epiphany: the witches are usually prepared and on it...the wizards on the other hand 🤷🏼♀️.
